I decided to make a new page as the previous one was getting quite big and may have taken a while to load...

...and what a big bit of news to start this page on. Earlier, I looked at my current plan, and wondering if I would get more space for locos and wagons if I was to swap the TMD and freight siding over. However this led me to noticing the far corner between the station and multiple unit sidings was almost wasted and I could use it to my advantage. I then practically redesigned the whole layout keeping only the MU sidings, station and TMD in roughly the same place, and changing the size of them, and the track layout.
After running it through with my 'personal layout designer' (thanks Pug), we came up with a good plan that combined my new plans into one of the original plans thought up by him. The finished product is below.
The demolition and relaying shouldn't take as long as the 7 months it took to lay the track as I am now more familiar with track laying and I am hoping to stick to the plan and not change it as I go along meaning I have to buy more track. I also have most of the track and points but I may need to buy some more if I run out. I will keep you updated with the 'demolition process' and how everything goes. Please feel free to tell me what you think about the plan through the contact me page...

Apologies for not updating for a while. I have been taking up the layout in the spare time I have and have finally finished. Scraping off the cork underlay was quite easy but the carpet stuff was quite hard as it's a rubber style material held on the back by a fabric sort of stuff so the fabric stuck where I had glued. I still need to scrape and smooth off what I can of that and then hoover it all up. I will then lay out the track in the plan and see if I have the space etc. I will shortly be uploading the demolition progress pictures and will upload it here. Watch this space...

Well, after discussions with another modeller, I have decided to change the layout name to a better suited one. Solehill sounds too much like a preserved line for me and I wanted something that sounded central. I googled local road names and found Shelford Avenue. I then googled Shelford village and turns out it is a village in Nottingham which is in the midlands. I figured there needed to be something added onto the name Shelford so saw it was next to the river Trent and went from there.
Instead of redoing a site, all I had to do was change the site title and address which saved so much time. Changing the Youtube account will be less easy but I will try...
Below is the time lapse pictures of the layout being taken apart.
